Sunday Matches

Twas March the 5th but the weather was more like late April or early May. Couldn’t ask for any better, sunny with just a slight breeze. Anyhow, five cowboys took advantage of that and shot CAD, clean all day. Congratulations to Walker Colt, Lefty Spurmaker, Bucksaw Bob, Potter County Kid, and the new guy shooting his first ever match, Mopor CC Rider. Mr. Mopor, hope you had a good time, We also had momma Ms.Dang Jenner and the boys back. Congrads to Mr. Walker Colt for taking the top honor and not to forget, A BIG  THANK YOU to everyone working like a well oiled machine. Results attached somewhere.

The Cavalier Cowboys will be hosting their March Madness Match this Sunday, March 5, 2023. I call it March Madness because March is the restartup month for the second Wednesday of the month matches so let’s keep our fingers crossed for fair weather. Speaking of startup’s, the SASS Virginia State Championship registration forms and hotel bookings are now up on the website. We are held to a limited number so please register early. Just click  State Match on top bar at www.cavaliercowboys.org  The madness for Sunday is provided by Mr. Bingo with first shot down range at 10:00 am the usual time.

Setup for the match will be on Saturday starting at 3:00 pm

Well it might have gotten to the mid fifties today but we couldn’t enjoy the warmth because of the damn wind. We all still managed to enjoy ourselves with some mighty fine stages. Mr. Ripsaw, the Lefty Spurmaker and Captain R. Hugh Kidnme himself, all made it to the CAD podium. Dakota Rambler took the first place honors. Thank you to everyone for all the help. Results are attached.

The Cavalier Cowboys will be holding their first Sunday of the month match this coming Sunday Feb. 5, 2023. Gates open at 8:00 with first shot down range at 10:00. This will be a Cowboy Cool match so dress any way you want to stay warm. We will also have all the heaters cranking. Antics for Sunday created by Mr. Ripsaw and are attached. If you can help, set up will be on Saturday at 3:00.

Twas a lovely day in the neighborhood. Mid sixties and sunny for the first day of the new year, who would have thought. We did manage to hold a decent match today with 21 people either being hung over, sleep deprived or both. That didn’t seem to bother anyone when it came to having to engage the Ferris Wheel on stage three. I’m guessing Mr. Bingo was the only one to stayed sober and got some sleep because he was the only CAD shooter. Thanks all for all your help and being such a fun group to ride with.

Let’s start the first day of the new year off with a good old shootem-up. The 1st Sunday of the month match at Cavalier will be New Years Day. Looking forward to spending this year shooting with you all. Sorry though, the stages were written by me.

The Cavalier Cowboys were blessed today with a superb group of shooters. A bit cold but with the heaters cranking no one seemed to mind much. Someone even managed a warm snack in the process. A special shout out to Which Hand Wade who made his shooting comeback after over a years long recovery from surgery.. Jackass Flats even pulled out some sidearms and gave it a go. All together we had 20 shooters but only had 1 Clean All Day shooter. Congratulations to Mr. Ripsaw for being that 1 CAD shooter and also 1st place overall. Thank you everyone for coming today and doing such a bang up job at assisting with everything. Results linked below..

The end of 2022 is approaching quickly so the laid back bad guys (also known as the Cavalier Cowboys) are hosting their end of the year match this coming Sunday Dec. 4, 2022. Gates open at 8:30, safety briefing at 9:45 with first shot down range at 10:00. NOTE: There will not be another second of the month Wednesday match until March. Since it will be December, please feel free to dress festively if possible. Stages have been provided by the Grinch, I mean Mr. Smackwater.

The Cavalier Cowboys managed to pull off another match with really nice weather today. Twas a little on the heated side and so was the shooting.We would like for everyone to take note of our soon to be a regular Cowboy competitor, Mr. Bullfrog Bandido who shot his first match today. Glad to have you ride with us anytime. Speaking of riding, we only had two shooters ride out with a Clean match, that being our good buddy Mr. Bucksaw Bob and the lovely and talented Ms. One Eyed Jane. First time top overall shooter today was also the lovely and talented  Mr. Walker Colt. Thanks Bingo for managing things, Ripsaw for the fine match and to all that attended and handled all the chores.

We will be shooting again this Wednesday 11/9/22 with the first shot down range at 11:00. Stages to be sent out tomorrow.

Note from Bingo: Ripsaw, the best dressed pistoleer since Wild Bill, was incorrectly entered as Silver Senior category and should have been Gunfighter!  Sorry about that Ripsaw.

The Cavalier first Sunday of the month match is this Sunday 11/6/22. Gates open at 8:30 with first shot down range at 10:00. Setup will be on Saturday about 3:30.

At least come to the match and take out your political frustrations on some steel targets before you vote on Tuesday. Hell, you even get an extra hour of sleep leading up to the match. What’s there not to love. Stages provided by Mr. Ripsaw.

The Cavalier Gang will be hosting their 1st Sunday of the month match this Sunday Oct.2. Gates open at 8:30, safety meeting at 9:45 and first shot down range at 10:00. Stages were conjured up by Mr. Bingo. Please keep an eye out for updates on the match on Friday and Saturday with the iffy weather heading this way.

Was a nice day for shooting weather wise with the pop-up’s and the fans going. Was a nice day for shooting people wise with such a hard working and happy crowd.Great to see how many showed off their Hawaiian Cowboy Spirit and thanks to all that chipped in on supplying all the vittles afterwards. We did have four Clean All Day Shooters out of nineteen trying desperately to do so. The four lucky ones were the dynamic duo of Miss One Eyed Jane and Prairie City Slim, also Enid City Kid and that Major BS fellow.

Don’t forget to send in your State Registrations. It will be here sooner than you think

This Sunday,July 3rd the Cavalier Cowboys will be hosting their monthly match. As usual, gates open at 8:30 with first shots down range at 10:00. What’s not usual is this will be our Cowboy Casual Summer Hawaiian Shirt Match. Like your ugliest Christmas tie, please sport your brightest Hawaiian or festive shirt. After the match to celebrate your company, we will be cooking on the grill. Bringing a cover dish to share would be appreciated but not required.

If you do wish to add something then just email or call me so we don’t end up with four bowls of pork-n- beans creating a Blazing Saddles campfire moment. Stages attached provided by Mr. Smackwater.

As of this email results, the Cavalier crew has logged in another Sunday monthly match. Full of hopes and dreams, crashes and burns we all truly enjoyed ourselves with good stage writing and great people. Everyone’s help is always appreciated,thank you. As for thank you’s, thank you Tree Doc Red, Bingo Montana, Capt. R Hugh Kidnme and One Eyed Jane for shooting the match clean all day and a shout out to Ripsaw for being our top overall shooter. Don’t forget about registering for the Virginia State Match held here for the first time at Cavalier and it’s not too late to sign up for the Virginia State BlackPowder match at West Point.
