We had a great day of shooting today at Cavalier. It was very warm, sunny and we were done shooting by 1:00 so plenty of time to get home for the big game.

Congratulations to BS Walker as the Top Overall Shooter and congratulations to BS Walker, Cody Maverick and Sassy Shooting Sours for shooting Clean All Day.

The Cavalier Cowboys will be shooting this Sunday, February 2nd, 2014.

The stages have been written by myself and are attached in both MS Word and PDF formats. The gates will be open between 8:00 and 9:30, registration will run from 8:30 till 9:30, the mandatory safety meeting will be at 9:45 and the match itself begins sharply at 10:00. The costs is $15.00 for non members, $10.00 for members of CR&PC, couples shoot for $25.00 and shooters under the age of 18 shoot for free.

This Sunday is also Super Bowl Sunday, local range rules require us to be done shooting by 3:00 on Sundays and we should be done shooting before that so you can still shoot the match with us on Sunday and get home in time for the kickoff of the big game which is at 6:30.

The weather.com forecast for Sunday looks good, with partly cloudy skies, high temperature of 52 degrees and only a slight chance of rain. If the weather forecast changes we will send out an update by 5:00 pm on Friday, but only if the weather turns bad, so no news is good news.

We will be holding our after the match cowboy social but we will keep it short in order to get home in time for the game.

I have been watching the weather.com forecast for Montpelier, VA all day and it has changed back and forth all day but at this moment the forecast for 10:00 am on Sunday is 38 degrees with a 50% chance of rain. The chance of rain stays at 50% till 2:00 when it goes up to 60%. The rain chances are greater north and west of Richmond, where the range is located. So, based on this forecast it seems very likely that the range will get rain at least some of the time during our shooting window. With the combination of cold temperatures, a slight wind and a good chance of rain, this just is not good shooting weather.

I hate to cancel matches, and the actual weather conditions on Sunday may show that I made the wrong decision, but that’s the way things work sometimes.

Let’s all put in a good word with the man upstairs for better weather at all of the area cowboys matches the rest of this winter !!

The Cavalier Cowboys are planning on holding their match this Sunday, January 5th, 2014.  The current weather.com forecast calls for a high of 48 and a low of 33, that is on the cold side but warm enough.  I will send out an update by 9:00 pm on Friday with our final decision and also the status of our after the match activities.

The gate will be open between 8:00 and 9:30, Registration will run from 8:30 till 9:30, Mandatory Safety Meeting will be at 9:45 and the Match Begins at 10:00 am sharp. The cost is $15.00 for an individual, $25.00 for couples, $0.00 (free) for those 18 and under and CR&PC members are $10.00. We plan on having the burn barrel going and will be shooting straight through but will accommodate folks who need to take breaks for snacks and facilities.

The gates will be open by 8:00am, Registration will be between 8:30 and 9:30, the gates will be closed at 9:30, the Mandatory Safety Meeting is at 9:45 and the Match Begins at 10:00am. The costs for the match are $15.00 for non members, $25.00 for couples, $10.00 for members and shooters 18 and under shoot free.

Today was a very good day to be a cowboy, we got to enjoy the match and didn’t have to fight the weather!!

Upcoming matches at Cavalier Cowboys…..

Our 2nd Wednesday Match on August 14th, 2013 and our next 1st Sunday Match on September 1st, 2013. The September match falls on the same weekend as the Virginia State Match and many of us will be shooting that match but Enid City Kid will be running the match at Cavalier for those who are home that weekend.

The current forecast is calling for a high temperature in the low 80’s so we will go with normal cowboy dress as the dress code. However, accommodations will be made for anyone who has medical issues in dealing with the heat.
