Cowboys & Cowgirls,
I have typed in the stages that we shot this past Sunday in our “Luck of the Draw” match, along with a brief write up of how we shot the match.
This document is mostly correct, I saved the papers we drew for each stage but the shooting orders and starting lines were from memory, so I may have missed something there.

Cowboys & Cowgirls,
The Cavalier Cowboys held their first “Luck of the Draw” match today at the Cavalier Rifle & Pistol Club. The idea was each shooter wrote out a rifle, pistol and shotgun sequence and then we had a drawing at the beginning of each stage to determine what the shooting sequences were for that stage. This approach seemed to be well revived and something we will definitely do again. I will be sending out the actual stages we show but wanted to get the scores out first and will send the stages when I have time to get them typed in.
Congratulations to Cody Maverick as our Top Overall Shooter. There were no Clean Shooters.
The scores are attached in both PDF and MS Excel formats.

Cowboys & Cowgirls,
The Cavalier Cowboys will be shooting their monthly 1st Sunday match, this Sunday, December 7th, 2014 at the Cavalier Rifle & Pistol Club. The gate will be open from 8:00 till 9:30, registration will run from 8:30 till 9:30, mandatory safety meeting at 9:45 and the match itself will begin at 10:00. The costs is $15.00 for non members, $25.00 for couples, $10.00 for members of CR&PC and as always shooters 18 and under shoot for free. Additional details are available on our web site at: www.cavaliercowboys.org
As we announced last month, for our December match we are trying something new, we are calling it a “Luck of the Draw” match. Here is the idea: We will have 5 rifle targets, 5 pistol targets and 6 shotgun targets setup on the range. There will be 3 buckets, labeled Rifle, Pistol and Shotgun. Before the match we will invite each cowboy to write a shooting sequence on an index card for each of the three buckets. The cowboy can choose the number of targets from 1 to the max for each type and then the shooting sequence for those targets. For example, for the rifle bucket a shooter might write; “3 Targets, Double Tap Nevada Sweep, Starting on the Left, for example: R1, R1, R2, R2, R3, R3, R2, R2, R1, R1”. Each cowboy present can write a sequence for each the rifle, pistol and shotgun. Then at the start of each stage, we will draw one card from each of the three buckets, a rifle card, a pistol card and a shotgun card, and that will be the stage directions for that stage. We will also be rotating the shooting order and movement direction between stages, all of that will be explained at the match. But you should be thinking about what your favorite shooting sequences are, so you will be ready to fill out the cards.
The hourly weather forecast for Sunday shows a 40% chance of rain and temperatures in the mid forties for our match window, not an ideal weather forecast but we can make that work by taking advantage of our covered shooting areas, putting up tents and lighting the burn barrel. If the forecast for Sunday turns for the worst we will send out an update on Friday afternoon but NO NEWS is GOOD NEWS and if you don’t hear from us, the match is a GO.
Safe Travels,
